MIT MISTI & MIT ECF

For many years the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has worked together with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on two key initiatives: the MIT MISTI Internship Program and the MIT European Career Fair (ECF). Both annual projects offer the opportunity for organizations in the Netherlands to connect with top-tier talent. By participating in the MIT MISTI internship program, you're able to attract ambitious students to contribute to your business. The MIT European Career Fair offers the chance for your company to connect with potential international employees.

MIT MISTI

MIT MISTI is an internship program that gives talented MIT students the opportunity to do an internship abroad. Through this program, students are able to experience the Netherlands during their three-month (summer) internship whilst gaining valuable hands-on experience at a Dutch company. Is your company in need of top-tier talent to work on specific projects? Then the MIT MISTI internship program might be the solution!

1. Who is it for?

  • Companies and research institutes looking for talented international interns to gain experience and contribute to their business

2. What interns are you attracting?

  • MIT students looking to do an internship abroad, allowing them to gain work experience whilst exploring and discovering a new culture.
These students major in STEM subjects such as computer science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, and physics

3. What are the costs?

  • The costs to hire a three month summer intern from MIT are $8000,-
  • Are you a startup? The Ministry of Economic Affairs funds a part of this program for you to be able to hire a summer intern. The cost for hiring a summer intern as a startup will then be $2500,-

MIT European Career Fair (ECF)

The MIT European Career Fair (ECF) is an annual career fair organized by the MIT European Club. This is the largest Europe-focused career fair in the United States that aims to connect European companies and employers with students and young professionals who are interested in starting their career in the Netherlands or Europe. It offers an opportunity for talented and ambitious students to explore their career options abroad and for companies to attract future employees.

1. Who is it for?

  • European companies and research institutes that are interested in hiring international (STEM) talent
  • Students/alumni from MIT, Yale, Harvard, NYU, Boston University, Tufts Univeristy and other universities in the Boston area who are interested in kickstarting their career in the Netherlands

2. What does the MIT ECF program look like?

The career fair takes place each year at the end of February/beginning of March on a Saturday, whereafter the interview days will take place on Sunday and Monday. For our Dutch delegation we usually organize an extra day prior to event to kick-off, host side-events and host a ‘meet your future employer’ event, where you get an extra chance to pitch your business to alumni from MIT.

  • Friday: Kick-off for delegation
  • Saturday: the career fair takes place on Saturday. On this day, you’ll be part of our ‘Dutch street’ where we will present all of our accompanying organizations by having a stand on the fair with all the needed promotional material
  • Sunday and Monday: on these days the interviews take place. This gives companies the opportunity to interview students who are interested in kickstarting their career in the Netherlands
